Elon Musk, CEO of X (formerly Twitter), has publicly endorsed former President Donald Trump following a shooting incident at a Trump campaign rally in Pennsylvania. Musk posted his endorsement on X shortly after the incident, during which Trump was rushed off stage by secret service members following gunshots.
Musk wrote, "I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery," and shared a photo of Trump with blood on the side of his face, lifting his right fist towards the crowd. The rally shooting has sparked numerous conspiracy theories on X, with tags such as "false flag" and "staged" trending on the platform.
Despite these assertions, there is no evidence supporting these claims. Musk's endorsement of Trump comes after he donated a significant but undisclosed amount to a pro-Trump super PAC called America PAC.
This incident also highlights ongoing issues with moderation on X, especially under Musk's leadership, as the platform has been promoting conspiracy theories in its trending section.
A decline in consumer spending in China is taking a toll on the country's economy, according to a report by the National Bureau of Statistics. In 2022, consumer spending grew at its slowest pace in 15 years, with a growth rate of just 7.
3%. This is a significant departure from China's historical trend, where consumer spending has been a main driver of economic growth.
Several factors contribute to the decline in consumer spending, including rising income inequality, an aging population, economic uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the rise of e-commerce. This decline in consumer spending has resulted in slower economic growth, increased unemployment rates, and increased debt.
To address this issue, the Chinese government has implemented measures like fiscal stimulus packages, monetary easing measures, and support for the e-commerce industry. However, further attention is needed to address income inequality, changing demographics, and economic uncertainty in order to stimulate consumer spending and drive economic growth.
Failure to do so may have significant consequences for the Chinese economy.
A new AI-controlled robot called ARRES Prevent has been deployed on British roads to prevent potholes from forming. Developed by Hertfordshire County Council, tech company Robotiz3d, and academics from the University of Liverpool, the robot uses AI and state-of-the-art imaging technology to detect defects in the road and fill them in before they can become potholes.
The prototype, which has been in development for four years, successfully filled cracks with tar on its first deployment in Hertfordshire. The ARRES Prevent robot aims to save time and money, as well as minimize damage to cars and inconvenience to drivers.
The deployment comes as data suggests the number of pothole-related claims has risen by 40% annually, and the cost of pothole-related damage has increased by 29%.

Nike and Hyperice have joined forces to create advanced wearable technology for athletes. The collaboration has produced two innovative products—a high-tech footwear and a versatile vest.
The footwear is equipped with heat and dynamic air-compression massage capabilities for the feet and ankles, allowing athletes to recover faster. The boots also have a system of dual-air Normatec bladders that evenly heat the upper portion of the boots.
The insole of each shoe contains a battery cell that regulates three levels of compression and heat. The collaborative vest uses thermoelectric coolers to provide instant heating and cooling capabilities, allowing athletes to control their body temperature during warm-ups and cool-downs.
Hyperice's expertise in recovery technology complements Nike's product line and contributes to optimal athletic performance. This partnership represents a significant advancement in the field of wearable technology for athletes.
Ukrainian companies, fueled by the ongoing war with Russia, are at the forefront of developing autonomous drones and other weapons. These technologies, which are being created at a low cost using off-the-shelf devices and readily available components, are pushing the boundaries of what AI can do in the realm of warfare.
Deep learning, a form of AI that utilizes large amounts of data, is making it possible for drones and other machines to act autonomously. This has led to the development of swarms of self-guided drones that can coordinate attacks, machine guns with computer vision that can automatically shoot down soldiers, and other deadly innovations.
These developments are raising serious ethical and legal concerns and fueling the debate on the use of autonomous weapons.

Healthtech has revolutionized the way healthcare is delivered, and it is having a significant impact on medical malpractice claims in England, France, Ireland, and Spain. The use of telemedicine, virtual consultations, wearable devices, artificial intelligence, and other technologies has transformed the healthcare industry, but it has also raised legal and regulatory challenges.
In England, there is a shift towards greater patient autonomy, which may result in a shift towards contributory negligence becoming more common in litigation involving wearable devices. France is grappling with the legal classification of wearable devices and telesurgery, while Ireland is addressing the provision of telemedicine services, robotic-assisted surgery, and the regulation of artificial intelligence.
In Spain, the focus is on patient consent, privacy, and the liability of healthcare insurers. As healthcare providers continue to embrace healthtech, it is crucial for the legal and regulatory frameworks to keep pace with these advancements.
